One 60-day cruise around Australia was terminated following the death of an elderly lady who was left behind by the cruise liner on a distant coastal location.

The elderly woman had been walking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the excursion for a rest. The liner sailed away leaving her and came back later that day after the ship staff discovered the lady was unaccounted for.

A large-scale search operation found her remains the next day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the event, together with investigators and the state coroner.

Head of the cruise operator stated that guests and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were told that the remainder of the voyage had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and earlier mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he further stated that guests would be given a total repayment, and said the operator was working "to organize the travel back of the travelers via private aircraft".

Authorities also issued an updated announcement, and said they had "provided a order to the Captain" banning any additional guests from boarding the vessel.

The representative said that they would visit the vessel in the Australian city upon its coming back.

Sequence of Incidents

The vessel initially left the coastal city on 24 October, and was only 48 hours into the voyage at the time of the elderly woman's demise. Lizard Island was the initial destination on the journey.

Travelers on the ship - who usually pay substantial amounts of money to participate in the voyage - were taken there for a shore visit with the choice of hiking or snorkeling.

The offspring of the victim said that her loved ones was "surprised and distressed that the liner left the location after an organised excursion without my mother".

Through her comments, she portrayed her parent as an "vigorous elderly person" who was a affiliate of a bushwalking organization.

"Based on limited information we have been told, it looks that there was a failure of attention and basic judgment," she said.

She continued that she wished the inquiry would be able to identify what "the company should have done that might have saved Mum's life".

He said that the organization was "deeply sorry that this has occurred" and had provided its full support to the loved ones.

The liner serves up to a hundred twenty guests with forty-six crew, according to company data. It was purpose-built to enter isolated areas of the Australian coastline and is fitted with "tenders" - minor craft used to take travelers on day excursions.

Occurrences of this nature are infrequent, and cruise ships have protocols to track which travelers are boarding or getting off, according to industry experts.
